St. Martha’s Lighthipe Scholarships: Empowering IRHS Grads for a Brighter Future!

At St. Martha’s, we are dedicated to enhancing the community lives of graduating and graduates of Indian River High School (IRHS). We provide need-based college scholarships for one year to students from the IRHS District Areaattending regional nonprofit colleges and higher education institutions, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to pursue higher education. We offer multi-award scholarships from $500 to $5,000. Our scholarship program is not just a beacon of hope but a testament to our commitment to the future of IRHS graduates. We collaborate closely with IRHS counselors to inform graduating seniors about our need-based financial scholarships, designed to help those requiring additional financial support attend their chosen college. We strive to make the application process smooth and accessible.

The St. Martha’s Lighthipe Scholarship Committee partners with financial aid counselors at our preferred colleges and institutions, including:

  • Beebe Healthcare Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing
  • Delaware State University – Dover and Owens Campuses
  • Delaware Technical Community College – Owens Campus
  • Salisbury University – Salisbury Campus for in-state tuition
  • University of Delaware – Lewes and Newark Campuses

We prioritize students pursuing fields of study in:

  • Addiction Counselors, Healthcare, Lab, Medical, Occupational, PN, PT, and Others
  • Behavioral Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Social Services, and Social Work
  • Education and Teaching
  • STEM – extensive related disciplines
  • Veterinary Sciences

How to Apply

To qualify, you must be a US citizen and live full-time in Sussex County, Delaware, within an Indian River High School (IRHS) District Area as a resident and IRHS graduating senior or graduate that must include:

  1. IRHS Official Transcript with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and school ranking,
  2. FAFSA SAR, including all federal grants (PELL, Inspire, SEED, and others) and additional college and private scholarships for total financial awards.
  3. Two IRHS Letters of Recommendation from a counselor and or faculty members and 
  4. One Personal Essay – one to two pages max.

To get started, we’ve made sure that our application process is secure, encryptedand easy to complete. You can submit your student application from our church sponsor’s private website, Chesapeake Legal Counsel LLC (CLC).
